In 2018, I was selected to take part in the Mokuhanga Innovation Laboratory, Lake Kawaguchi Artist-in-Residence Basic Training Program in Japan. While there, I became intrigued with the way windows are purposely framed so that a clear view of a mountain or a lake is visible, or the way trees or bushes are trimmed to create an opening to a garden. The imagery in these prints derives from my experiences while at the residency and reflects the natural surrounding landscapes of Lake Kawaguchiko and other parts of Japan.
